Adam Hopkins is a dedicated community volunteer and advocate and proud dad to Leighton and Millie, and partner to Jen. Adam brings over 17 years of experience in post-secondary education. He is a post-secondary administrator, working remotely from his home in Douro-Dummer.
"Doug Ford’s Conservatives are failing our communities. Here in Peterborough–Kawartha, families are facing significant challenges: limited access to family doctors, long hospital wait times, a worsening housing crisis, and an education system stretched to its limits. As a dad and a professional dedicated to building equity and opportunity, I’ve seen firsthand the cost of these cuts. Enough is enough.
It’s time to move past Doug Ford, the Ontario Conservatives and their policies that make housing more expensive, healthcare less accessible, and degrade the quality of our public education system.
It’s time for bold, new ideas to strengthen our healthcare and education systems and to see a government that works in a coordinated way to support people as whole human beings. Treating only the symptoms of our problems won’t address their root causes, and without that, we’ll never truly get ahead.
Real change requires both collaboration and courage, and I’m ready to bring both to the table for our communities. I’m proud to join Bonnie Crombie’s team to deliver real solutions for Peterborough–Kawartha."
Campaign Priorities:
I believe we have a responsibility as human beings to ensure that our loved ones and future generations inherit a healthy, thriving planet. I also believe that we need to listen to our community and work collaboratively to identify opportunities and solutions for honouring their whole being. Our current leaders are failing to see people as a whole human being. Instead of honouring a person’s whole being, these leaders have parceled our beings to fit in small categories. I commit to embedding more holistic approaches to public policy and governance.
My priorities:
Improving access to primary healthcare
Right now, 32,000 people in the Peterborough area do not have a family doctor—a number expected to rise to 63,000 by 2026. These are not just statistics; they represent our friends, family, and neighbors struggling to access essential care.
I am committed to…
- Expanding access to team-based care approaches
- Addressing healthcare inequities by listening to experts and those with lived experience, to ensure people in our community, including seniors, Indigenous communities, rural residents, and the most vulnerable in our community, receive the care they deserve
Investing in the future of our children
Our education system is crumbling. Funding has decreased $1561 per student since 2018, when Doug Ford’s Conservatives took office. Since 2018, the needs of many students have increased, and have become more complex. The current funding has failed to meet our children’s needs and support them through crucial times in their lives.
I am committed to…
- Increasing education funding to reflect the evolving needs of students, staff, and schools
- Strengthening wraparound supports to promote student well-being and success
